ANALYSIS
The middling numbers Bleis posted in 2023 continued to start the current season, but there's encouraging signs beneath the slash line. The outfield prospect, a notorious free-swinger, has posted a 12.5 percent walk rate (up from 7.4 percent in 2023) while cutting down on strikeouts (17.2 percent, down from 26.8 percent). Better swing decisions could eventually lead to more promising outcomes.

Latest Fantasy Rumors
Linked to Red Sox
Bleis is expected to sign with the Red Sox once the 2020-21 international signing period begins, Ben Badler of Baseball America reports.
ANALYSIS
A 6-foot-3, 170-pound outfielder from the Dominican Republic, Bleis is a well-rounded player with a chance for plus tools across the board. He is already quite tall for a 16-year-old, so there is a chance he could log high strikeout rates if he continues to grow. It is unclear how much he will sign for, but his bonus is expected to be north of $1 million.

2023 Fantasy Outlook
If high-upside, high-risk position player prospects are your thing, Bleis has what you're looking for. The 6-foot-2 outfielder has plus speed that he should hold into his mid-20s and projects for plus power. He also has the arm for right and the glove for center. It will all come down to how much he hits. Bleis struck out 26.9% of the time as an 18-year-old in the Florida Complex League and did most of his damage on fastballs. An inability to lay off breaking balls and a general free-swinging mentality were to blame for his 70.6 Contact%. Improvement will be needed if he is to avoid being overmatched in the upper levels and in the majors, but we've seen tool sheds like Elly De La Cruz still dominate in the mid-minors with poor pitch recognition. This is an ascending dynasty asset with significant helium entering the 2023 season.
